Egbe Degbuyi Remo Appoints Dr. Oluwatoyin Madein as Matron, Set for Investiture Ceremony

The Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, Torungbuwa II, has urged former Accountant-General of the Federation, Dr. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, to remain committed to serving humanity, declaring that her greatest contributions to society are still ahead.

The monarch gave the charge during the 8th Anniversary Celebration of Egbe Degbuyi Remo held at the Royal Haven Event Centre, Sagamu, where Dr. Madein was formally installed as the association’s first female Matron.

The colourful event attracted prominent sons and daughters of Remoland, traditional rulers, professionals, community leaders and development partners who gathered to celebrate the association’s eight years of community service and social impact.

Activities at the event included the induction of new members, investiture of patrons and matrons, presentation of awards to deserving members and a fundraising drive for the completion of the group’s Permanent Secretariat and Club House.

Speaking at the ceremony, Oba Ajayi described Dr. Madein as one of the most accomplished daughters of Remoland whose contributions to national development have brought honour to her community and the country.

He commended her unwavering support for communal development initiatives and her readiness to contribute whenever called upon to advance the cause of Remoland.

According to the monarch, Dr. Madein’s achievements have helped to dispel the misconception that Remoland lacks capable and accomplished women.

The royal father revealed that a list was being compiled for an important assignment in Remoland and noted that no woman’s name had initially appeared on it.

He, however, announced that Dr. Madein would be the first female to be included on the list, citing her exemplary record of leadership, service and dedication to society.

“Your best is yet to come. Nigeria, Remoland and Iperu still need your service and contributions,” the monarch stated.

Oba Ajayi also congratulated Dr. Madein on her recent 61st birthday celebration, book presentation and foundation launch, expressing regret that he could not attend the events due to an overseas engagement.

He prayed for continued good health, longevity and fulfilment for the former Accountant-General.

The monarch equally lauded the Giwa of Egbe Degbuyi Remo, Gbuyi Saheed Oloyede, and members of the association for their commitment to empowerment programmes and community intervention projects.

He noted that the organisation’s numerous initiatives had earned it respect and recognition within the palace and across Remoland.

Calling for stronger collaboration between the palace and community groups, Oba Ajayi stressed the importance of security as a foundation for sustainable development.

“No amount of empowerment or giving back to society can achieve the desired impact if the people do not have peace of mind. Security remains a key prerequisite for a peaceful and progressive society,” he said.

The monarch further advocated the creation of a dedicated social fund to support security interventions, noting that the financial burden of maintaining peace and safety continues to rise.

He also congratulated the newly installed patrons and matrons, describing them as longstanding friends of the palace who have consistently supported the development of Remoland.

Responding, Dr. Madein expressed gratitude to Egbe Degbuyi Remo for considering her worthy of the honour and pledged to work closely with the association in advancing its developmental objectives.

She said her confidence in the organisation was strengthened by the integrity and character of some of its members whom she had known over the years.

The former Accountant-General assured members of her continued support for programmes that promote human development, social progress and community upliftment.

Dr. Madein also acknowledged the support of her husband, Engr. Sir Adeleke Madein; her friend, Dr. Joke Sofowora; and members of the Blessed Bomode Oku Society who accompanied her to the event.

She reaffirmed her commitment to the ideals of service, leadership and community development for which the association is known.

Also installed alongside Dr. Madein as Matron was Dr. Oluremi Falilat Runsewe, while Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, Otunba Tunji Lawal-Solarin, Mr. Sammy Ogunjimi and Engr. Adewale Fayemi were invested as Patrons of the association.

According to the leadership of Egbe Degbuyi Remo, Dr. Madein’s appointment was in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the development of Remoland, Ogun State and Nigeria.

The association stated that her visionary leadership, selfless service and commitment to societal advancement would further strengthen its advisory structure and enhance its community development efforts.

Members expressed confidence that her wealth of experience and guidance would contribute significantly to the pursuit of the organisation’s goals and the advancement of Remoland.
