…..Aro Pledges Loyalty, Promises Growth in Trade and Commerce
The sons and daughters of Igbore in Abeokuta have congratulated Chief Shuaibu Adisa Aro following his emergence as the Olori Parakoyi Egba after a keenly contested election held at the Ake Palace in Abeokuta.
Chief Aro, who is the Jagunmolu Aje Igbore and Jagunmolu Aje Egba, was elected during the exercise conducted on Monday in the presence of the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo.
The election was supervised by Hon. Mustapha Kodaolu Olajide, the Secretary to Abeokuta South Local Government, as part of efforts to ensure a transparent and credible process.
According to a statement issued by Igbore community leaders, Chief Aro secured four votes to defeat his opponent, Chief Jonathan Oluwole Odekunle, who polled three votes.
The statement explained that only seven electors from Igbore township were cleared by the Alake of Egbaland to participate in the election process.
Leaders and stakeholders from Igbore described the election as peaceful and reflective of the collective will of the people of the township.
The community also reaffirmed confidence in the leadership qualities and capacity of Chief Aro to discharge the responsibilities attached to the revered traditional office.
They described the Olori Parakoyi Egba-elect as a committed son of Igbore whose contributions to the development of the community and Egbaland have remained remarkable over the years.
The statement further praised Chief Aro for what it called his philanthropic gestures and unwavering dedication to communal progress and unity.
Reacting to his victory, Chief Aro expressed appreciation to the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland for his steadfast role throughout the five-year contest surrounding the stool of Olori Parakoyi Egba.
The newly elected traditional leader pledged total loyalty and submission to the Alake, assuring that he would uphold the values and traditions of Egbaland.
Chief Aro also appreciated the Oluwo of Igbore, Chief Anthony Olaiwola Oliyide, for his fatherly support and guidance during the period leading to the election.
He equally commended the Balogun Igbore, Chief Tajudeen Lemboye, as well as the Jagunna Igbore, Chief Imran Taiwo, for their support and commitment to peace within the community.
The Olori Parakoyi Egba-elect further acknowledged the contributions of the Igbore Peace and Harmony Consultative Committee led by Professor Afolabi Soyode.
He thanked all sons and daughters of Igbore for their steadfastness, prayers and support throughout the period of the contest.
Chief Aro assured the people that he would live up to expectations and justify the confidence reposed in him by the community and traditional institution.
He described his election as a call to greater service, especially in the area of strengthening the coordination of Parakoyi chiefs across Egbaland.
According to him, the traditional institution has a crucial role to play in promoting commerce, market administration and peaceful business activities within Egbaland.
The Olori Parakoyi Egba-elect pledged to work closely with market chiefs, leaders of market women and traders to ensure improved coordination of trade and commercial activities.
