The State Coordinator, Usman Yakubu Yaro, made the disclosure at the passing-out ceremony of the 2025 Batch A, Stream I corps members in the state on Tuesday, March 31, 2926.

He revealed that eight corps members would repeat their service year, while 16 others had their service extended due to various infractions committed during the exercise.

Yaro reiterated the scheme’s firm stance on discipline, warning that acts of truancy would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

He, however, lauded the contributions of the majority of corps members, noting that two outstanding individuals were honoured with the Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar Award for their impactful community development efforts.

The award is named after Sa’ad Abubakar.

The coordinator advised the outgoing corps members to remain good ambassadors of the scheme and to make productive use of the skills acquired during their service year, stressing that securing white-collar jobs is increasingly challenging.

also cautioned them against night travel, urging them to seek refuge in safe locations such as NYSC lodges, security formations, or traditional institutions when necessary.

Yaro expressed appreciation to Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu for his sustained support for the scheme, particularly in the payment of state allowances, as well as to the Sultan of Sokoto for his continued backing of youth-focused initiatives.

He highlighted the deployment of corps members to rural communities, where many, especially medical personnel, helped bridge gaps in healthcare delivery, while others contributed to teaching in schools.

The ceremony marked the successful completion of the service year, with a call on corps members to uphold the ideals of discipline, patriotism, and national service.
