The National Rescue Mission (NRM) has called on residents of Ogun State to reject what it described as the “coronation” of political candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections, urging citizens to embrace the power of the ballot as a tool for true democratic change.
Speaking on behalf of the party, the Ogun State Chairman of the NRM, Hon. Olujobi Fayoyin, emphasized that the future of the state rests firmly in the hands of its people, not political elites or predetermined arrangements.
Fayoyin decried what he termed a growing culture of imposition in the political space, where candidates are allegedly handpicked and presented to the electorate without due regard for democratic processes. He warned that such practices undermine the will of the people and stall meaningful development.
“The people of Ogun State must rise and reject any attempt to impose leaders on them. Democracy thrives when citizens actively participate and make independent choices at the polls,” he said.
The NRM chairman stressed that only through collective action and conscious voting decisions can the state witness a shift toward accountable governance and improved living conditions. According to him, the 2027 elections present a critical opportunity for residents to chart a new course.
He further called on voters across the state to rally behind the National Rescue Mission, describing the party as a credible alternative committed to transparency, inclusiveness, and people-oriented policies.
Fayoyin maintained that the NRM’s vision for Ogun State centers on restoring public trust, strengthening institutions, and delivering sustainable development that benefits all citizens.
“As we approach 2027, we urge the good people of Ogun State to reject politics of imposition and embrace a movement that prioritizes their welfare. The power to rescue the state lies in their hands,” he added.
The call comes amid increasing political activities and alignments ahead of the next general elections, with parties intensifying efforts to position their candidates and consolidate grassroots support.
