…Says he won’t run from Nigeria’s challenges
…Knocks Atiku Abubakar, defends reforms ahead of 2027
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that he is not intimidated by opposition forces, describing them as “noise-makers” who disregard the rule of law.
Speaking on Thursday at the State House, Abuja, during a meeting with leaders of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors drawn from the 36 states,
Tinubu said he would not be deterred from confronting Nigeria’s challenges.
The delegation was led by Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, who serves as Director-General of the group.
“They want to scare me off? It is a lie. I have been through this path before,” the President said.
“One thing you need from me is a promise: I will not run away from the affairs of this nation.”
Tinubu recalled the rigours of the 2023 presidential election, noting that both the primaries and the general election tested his resolve but ultimately prepared him for governance.
He stressed the need to uphold democratic principles, particularly respect for the judiciary and the rule of law, warning against what he described as “rascality” and disregard for lawful authority.
“We must build one country with a common vision for progress and prosperity. That is what Renewed Hope represents,” he said.
The President urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to remain united, insisting the party must resist forces opposed to national transformation.
In a veiled attack on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Tinubu questioned the outcomes of past privatisation exercises carried out under his leadership of the National Council on Privatisation.
He specifically cited the steel sector, including Ajaokuta, asking whether the privatisation efforts had yielded results.
Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to delivering on his campaign promises, assuring Nigerians that his administration would remain focused on economic and social reforms.
“I promise I will not let you down,” he said.
He added that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors had been mobilised nationwide to support the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
