The National organizing Secretary and the immediate past National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress HQ (ADC), Ralph Nwosu, has explained the reasons behind his decision to step aside as the National Chairman of the party.

Nwosu who made this elucidation while speaking to Newsmen at the ADC Ogun State convergence held on Thursday, September 25th, 2025 at the party’s secretariat in Itoko, Abeokuta, Ogun State, revealed that his action was taken in the best interest of the party to strengthen its internal structures and give room for a new phase of leadership.

Nwosu who is the founder of the party noted that after two decades of service at the helm of ADC’s affairs, “it became necessary for me to yield space for a fresh perspective that would drive the party’s mission forward”, he said.

He stressed that political organizations thrive when leadership transitions are managed with clarity and foresight, adding that “stepping aside was not about stepping away but about reinforcing the foundation for greater progress”.

“No organization can make meaningful impact without order, discipline, and well-defined structures. If there is no order, progress cannot be achieved, political parties that ignore this principle often slide into crisis and irrelevance. My decision, was therefore guided by a vision to preserve ADC’s integrity and reposition it for the future”, he said.

The Ogun State ADC Chairman, Otunba Olufemi Soluade in his speech acknowledged the sacrificial gestures of the party founder while he lamented that many of the young people in the state remain unemployed, roads are crumbling, and schools are underfunded, farmers lack support and infrastructure, schools and hospitals are under pressure, and our roads are in poor condition.

“In Ogun State, despite its potential as the industrial gateway of Nigeria, has been held back by selfish and unaccountable leaders”.

“These realities remind us why we are here: to provide leadership that places the people first and to end the cycle of mismanagement and neglect. Today, I declare that enough is enough. The time has come to put an end to bad governance and to return power to the people”.

“But my brothers and sisters, the power to make this change lies in your hands. The Permanent Voter’s Card, your PVC, is your weapon of warfare against misrule. Bad governance thrives only when good people remain silent”, he said.

The convergence was attended by Hon. Razek Eyiowuawi, South West Chairman, el-Rufai’s former adviser, Jimi Lawal, ADC national party leaders, stakeholders, and members across the state, who applauded Nwosu’s statesmanlike decision. They described his step aside as an act of sacrifice and wisdom that would inspire a culture of stability and succession within the ADC.
