Abdulmumin Jibrin, member representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has expressed shock over his expulsion from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) but says he accepts the decision in good faith.

The NNPP, through its Kano State chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa, announced Jibrin’s expulsion on Saturday, citing alleged anti-party activities and failure to meet financial obligations. Dungurawa also warned that the party would seek legal action if Jibrin failed to settle outstanding dues.

Responding in a personally signed statement, Jibrin described the decision as a “rude shock” but said he stands by his recent public statements, which he insisted were consistent with the party’s principles.

“No invitation was extended to me to defend or explain myself by any organ of the party,” Jibrin said. “Even under military dictatorship, an accused is subjected to a court martial. Perhaps, if the appropriate processes were followed, the need for such a harsh decision to force me out of a party and family I love so dearly may not have been necessary.”

Jibrin said he respects the party’s decision and will not challenge it in court despite alleging a breach of fair hearing and due process.

On the issue of unpaid dues, he appealed to the NNPP to send him an invoice so he could settle his obligations promptly.

He thanked the party for its support during his time as a member and called on his supporters to join him as he prepares to announce his next political move.

“I welcome all my supporters who wish to join me in my new journey,” Jibrin said. “For those who choose to remain in NNPP, I hold no grudges against them. I will carefully weigh all the options before me as I decide on my next political home. So help me God.”
