Well-spirited Nigerians have been urged to consolidate on the programmes and policies of government in promoting quality education in Nigerian society.

The coordinator of Tola Adebajo Foundation, (TAF) Hon. Femi Oluyemi made the plea at the commencement of the 2025 holiday coaching organised by the Foundation, currently holding at St. James’ Anglican Primary School, Atikori, Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State.

He stressed that while government efforts to reform the education sector are commendable, such interventions must be complemented by private initiatives and community-driven projects to achieve sustainable impact.

According to him, education should not be left solely in the hands of government, as partnerships with individuals, foundations, and well-meaning organisations could bridge gaps, provide essential resources, and ensure that no child was left behind in the pursuit of academic excellence.

Meanwhile, the coaching programme this year has recorded over 2,000 students in attendance. The initiative, which has become a yearly project since its inception three years ago, was aimed at providing academic support and keeping young learners productively engaged during the long vacation.

Speaking further on the project, the coordinator said it was designed to help students consolidate their learning, improve academic performance, and prepare for the next school term.

Hon. Oluyemi noted that initiatives like the coaching programme play a crucial role in achieving this goal, as they not only enhance academic competence but also instil discipline, teamwork, and a sense of purpose in students.

The TAF Foundation Coordinator attributed the 35 percent increase in attendance from last year’s figure to over 2,000 students this year to the positive impact of previous editions, increased awareness within Ijebu Igbo and surrounding communities, as well as the foundation’s growing reputation for delivering quality educational support.

“This year’s number of attendees surpasses last year’s by over 50 per cent. We all know that education remains a major tool for empowerment, and our foundation is committed to making a lasting impact on young people,” he said.

He added that the summer programme, open to secondary school students, covers core subjects such as Mathematics, English Language, and Science, as well as extracurricular activities like sports, cultural displays, and creative writing.

“We are fortunate to have volunteer teachers and facilitators drawn from within and outside Ijebu Igbo, whose dedication to the development of young learners is truly commendable,” Hon. Oluyemi said.

The four-week programme will end with an evaluation exercise and a closing ceremony, where outstanding students will be recognised for their performance and participation.
