A Chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Abiodun Ogunremi on Friday said the clamour for the realization of Egba indigene to occupy the number one seat in Ogun State is an aberration, saying that PDP has nothing like that in its agenda.
Ogunremi who is the Deputy State Chairman of PDP in the State and joined by other leaders from the Ogun Central Senatorial District said the Party believes in the emergence of the best candidates from any part of the State.
Speaking at a get together end of the year party held in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, Chief Ogunremi called on Party members to remain committed to the advancement of the Party.
Egba Agenda is a movement pushing for an Egba indigene as the next governor of the State after the tenure of the incumbent.
But speaking on behalf of the leaders of the district, the deputy Chairman of the party and a leader from the zone, Hon Abiodun Ogunremi, said the party in the Senatorial District is working for the unity and progress of the party and not for the Egba agenda.
Ogunremi insisted that the senatorial district is putting measures in place to win all the elective positions in the zone, saying that they are not for any sectional preference.
He said ” Today’s get-together party is to pass a message to the public that Ogun PDP Central Senatorial leaders are not part of Egba Agenda.
We are for the progress and unity of PDP. I want to say it clearly that We are not about the Egba Agenda”.
Ogunremi stressed that the party is planning to win all the 40 elective positions in the Senatorial District.
” What we are after is come 2027, PDP will win all the 40 elected positions. We are also launching an Operation win your polling booth”.
In their different remarks, the State Chairman of the party, Rotarian Abayomi Tella, the Secretary, Hon Sunday Solarin and the Ogun Central Senatorial Chairman, Hon Jamiu Keshinro, called for the unity of the party, urging members at all levels to work for the party.
The trio, pleaded with the party faithfuls to bury their differences and work in bringing new members to the party, stressing that they need people in the party.
Other leaders of the party who spoke at the event, called for steadfastness of members in preparation towards the 2027 polls.
