The children of the late Alaafin of Oyo have issued a pre-action notice to Queen Dami, one of the monarch’s widows and former lover of controversial singer Portable, accusing her of tarnishing their father’s reputation through public remarks.

In a letter shared on Friday, the family alleged that Queen Dami’s comments during a recent interview with Esabod were derogatory and damaging.

The children expressed concern over her repeated references to the late monarch, warning that they would pursue legal action if she continued to mention their father in interviews or online posts.

The letter questioned Queen Dami’s intentions, asking whether she wanted their late father’s name to be associated with negativity. It also emphasized that she was not the only widow of the Alaafin and described her actions as embarrassing and unacceptable.

Aminat Adeyemi, one of the late king’s daughters, posted the letter on Instagram, noting that the warning was a necessary step to preserve their father’s legacy.

She further criticised Dami’s behavior, questioning how many husbands or lovers she intended to have.

The letter, dated January 22, 2025, was written on the official letterhead of the late Alaafin of Oyo but was unsigned.

It read in part: “It has come to our attention that DAMILOLA SUKURAT MOSHOOD (popularly called Queen Dami) has been making public remarks regarding our late father in various interviews. While we respect everyone’s freedom of speech, we find it necessary to address this matter as these statements have become increasingly disrespectful and harmful to our family’s reputation.

“We urge you to pursue your endeavors without dragging our father’s name into public conversations. Any further remarks that tarnish his memory or our family name will not be tolerated, and we reserve the right to take appropriate legal or reputational actions if necessary.”

Aminat and Queen Dami have a history of conflict, with tensions escalating after Dami’s recent public fallout with Portable.

Aminat previously criticised Dami for collapsing amid the controversy, accusing her of seeking attention.

The family concluded the letter by urging Dami to move forward with dignity and respect while refraining from associating their late father’s name with her public statements
