Speaking to Our Correspondent, Chief Isaac Babatunde Fayemiwo, the Baase of Imo, Abeokuta described the process that saw the emergence of the new monarch as transparent and fair.

He said all those that needed to be part of the process were carried along including the Baales, Chiefs, Youths and other stakeholders.

He said part of the criteria used in selecting the new Monarch including his ancestral background, his contributions to the development of the town and his pedigree.

He said the title of Olu Orile-Imo now is a coronet status, and the State Chieftaincy law was fully used in the selection process.

He said for more than Twenty Five Years, Oba Sogaolu has been assisting the Imo town financially and by all means. He has assisted in the construction of the Community School that collapsed some years back.

“I am from Semore, the only school that Our Children go to has been calling for attention for some time, the School had totally collapsed, Oba Sogaolu used his personal money, about N28million to put that school in shape.

He said Oba Sogaolu is a true Imo son, both his maternal and paternal homes are from Orile Imo, so he is eminently qualified to be a monarch in the town.

Also, Engineer Kehinde Adeoso, who is the General Secretary of Imo Descendants Association, saw the emergence of Oba Reuben Oluwanbe Sogaolu as a welcome development.

He said the whole town except those with inordinate ambition supported his emergence as the new Olu of Orile-Imo.

Adeoso said his philanthropic contributions to the town and indigenes, his passion that Orile Imo attains unparalleled development is unequal.

He has been part of the town as both his parents are Imo while he also has buildings where he resides among the people .

“He had not engaged himself in the selling of communities or individuals’ lands, just as he added that he has not engaged in any act in demeans of a true son of Imo .

Engr Adeoso said the emergence of Oba Sogaolu as the new Olu Orile-Imo town followed the due process as prescribed by the Obas and Chiefs Law of Ogun State, 2021 as well as the custom and traditions of Orile-Imo.

He called on all aggrieved individuals to join hands with Kabiyesi to further champion peaceful co-existence with other neighbouring townships in Egbaland and the state “in order to take Orile-Imo to enviable heights.

Corroborating, the Chairman Orile-Imo Development Association, home and abroad, Hon. Oluwaseyi Lemo, said for a new Coronet Oba to be installed according to Ogun Chiefs law, the Baale and Ogbonis worked together.

He said that was diligently followed because there were Five candidates who showed interest and out of these five, Oba Reuben Oluwanbe Sogaolu was more than qualified based on his antecedents. He was then chosen and presented to Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland , who is the prescribed authority.

He called on all residents of the town including Baales and Chiefs to forget whatever they might have against Oba Sogaolu and join hands with him to develop Orile-Imo.

“There can only be one King in the town, and if you are not selected, that does not mean that people don’t like you, but you can still be useful in other areas, let’s forget any acrimony and support Oba Sogaolu in the task of bringing good things to Orile-Imo.
