Ogun Monarch, Olu Itori To Celebrate 20 Years on Throne With Grand Style

The Olu Itori in Ewekoro local government area of Ogun state, Oba Abdulfatai Akorede Akamo, has concluded plans to celebrate his Twenty years of ascending to the throne of his forebearers.

Oba Akamo while rolling out program for the celebration cautioned Nigerians against the vilification of President Tinubu due to the current of economic challenges and public discontent.

Oba Akamo, while urging citizens to refrain from speaking ill of the country’s leader, noted that President Tinubu had inherited a challenging economic landscape from previous administrations.

The Monarch sounded the caution on Tuesday at his palace while addressing journalists at a press conference to commemorate his week-long 20th coronation anniversary.

Rather than resorting to harsh criticism, the monarch encouraged Nigerians to offer prayers and support for the President’s success.

In a surprising twist, the Olu Itori commended Tinubu’s decision to remove the fuel subsidy, hailing it as a bold and necessary step towards economic reform.

Oba Akamo said “The incumbent President inherited this poverty we talk about. We just have to continue to pray for him to excel. How many of us wake up every morning and say God bless Nigeria, rather we keep saying negative things about our country.

“We don’t have any other place than Nigeria. So, what quota are you contributing to fight this poverty?
In the 70s and 80s, Nigeria was wealthy because we believed in agriculture.

In those years most of the things we consumed were being produced in Nigeria, suddenly we started taking our things abroad.

He added “But let’s give it to the president for taking the bull by the horn by removing that subsidy, that’s the greatest thing he ever did. It’s within some people but the effects of the subsidy will affect everybody. We just have to calm down and take things easy.

On his coronation, the monarch disclosed that there will be distribution of not less than 50 bags of rice, beans and garri to about 250 vulnerable homes in the Itori community.

Oba Akamo said this was part of his contribution to assuage the suffering of his people.

He stressed further that the coronation ceremony would be rounded up with the distribution of 250 solar lights to light up Itori communities on Wednesday, 28th February, 2024 with Dr. Saheed Osupa on the band stand to entertain guests.

He added that a free eyes test would be conducted for another 500 residents of the community with provision of eye glasses and drugs.
