LP alerts security agencies on alleged antidemocratic utterance of Obi-Datti campaign spokesperson

Labour Party has condenmed the call by some individuals and groups agitating for the distortion in the on going transition programme of the present administration saying that the call may affect the democratic gains that Nigeria have achieved years back.

The National Publicity of the Party, Dr Abayomi Arabambi who was reacting to the recent statement credited to the spokesperson for the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Yunusa Tanko while appearing on Channels Television programme recently.

Dr Arabambi said the forceful takeover of government as being agitated for after the duration of President Muhammad Buhari administration in May 29, is a serious threat to democratic norms which must be condenmed by well meaning lovers of democracy.

It could be recalled that Dr Yunusa Tanko while reacting to the recent Presidential Election said the President Elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu should not be sworn rather the senate president until final determination of the ongoing election petitions at the tribunal.

Yunusa Tanko who appeared alongside Dr Arabambi on the said programme called for interim government untill the tribunal rules on the matter before it .

But Arabambi in the Statement issued on Saturday said a certain elder statesman has also said there was no president Elect in Nigeria while others said there will be an end to democracy if the president Elect was sworn on May 29th . The National publicity Secretary who said most of this people are traders in Labour Party warned that Labour Party will not be part of those who will truncate the ongoing democratic process under any guise and asked that Dr YINUSA TANKO be arrested for a treasonable statement

“Yes we are challenging the presidential election and other elections conducted by Mahmood led INEC, we knew what happened during the election , the glitches noted and other abnormalities that trailed the election, but as a democrat and a Party who believes in rule of law, we can not be in support of any anti democratic or retrogressive moves by the so called sadist and hater of peace who called themselves party men clandestinely and criminally hidden under Party to promote division in the country.

Labour Party abhors that and we are condenming it in totality.

The Party said the party and its Presidential candidate Mr Peter Obi based on our philosophy of equity, justice and fairness are already in court hoping to get our mandate either the president Elect ASIWAJU BOLA Tinubu is sworn in or not as the party strongly has Faith in the Judiciary.

Arabambi then asked mischieve markers to steer clear of Labour Party as the Party is known for legality and rule of Law

Furthermore Dr ARABAMBI stated that In 1979,it was obvious the SW voted against Former President Sheu Shagari in the Federal Elections and the Late Sage Chief OBAFEMI AWOLOWO Political party UPN loses the election but yet with Diginity funded free education in Southwest states without calling for the head of Nigeria or call for interim President
Thus this political equation played out in 1979

So we had President Shehu Shagari, Sokoto State,

Vice President, Alex Ekwueme from Anambra State.

Senate President, Joseph Wayas- Cross River State.

Speaker, House of Representatives Edwin Ume-Ezeoke from Anambra State.

The Unity Party of Nigeria were proud and dignified in opposition and never for one day threatened the peace , unity and co existence of Nigeria despite the fact that one state Anambra has the Vice President and the Speaker House of Representatives

Therefore Labour Party is not desperate to govern Nigeria through the spilling or shedding the blood of innocent Nigerians but will wait patiently for the final judgement of the presidential election petition tribunal

Dr Arabambi said he has earlier alerted the security agencies to watch the Former National Chairman of Labour Party Julius Abure as he and others like Dr TANKO YINUSA must from now be put on the Nation Radar and serious surveillance be mounted on the Headquarters of the OBIDATTI CAMPAIGN COUNCIL in Abuja as they have capacity to halt our current transition process and cause civil unrest in Nigeria which might plunge our dear country into war .

He therefore call on the Inspector General of police and the DG DSS to effect arrest on any one who made inciting statements with the sole aim of precipitating condition to cause a violent change to Nigeria Democracy
