The result of the primary election was officially declared in Abeokuta by the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mr. Adeniyi Adams, who said Dr. Ogundipe emerged victorious after polling the highest number of votes in the exercise.

According to the results announced by the committee, Dr. Biodun Collins Ogundipe secured 9,370 votes to defeat his closest rival, Otunba Jimi Lawal, who polled 6,812 votes, while Mrs. Marie Odusina garnered 2,349 votes.

The declaration attracted party faithful, members of the electoral committee, security operatives, and journalists from different media organisations who monitored the exercise.

Representatives of the Department of State Services and the Nigeria Police Force were also present during the announcement of the results to ensure order and transparency throughout the process.

Party leaders described the conduct of the primary as peaceful and orderly, commending members for their participation and commitment to internal democracy.

Shortly after he was declared winner, Dr. Ogundipe expressed appreciation to party members across the state for the confidence reposed in him and his candidacy.

The ADC governorship candidate-elect said the conclusion of the primary election should mark the beginning of renewed unity and collective mobilisation ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State.

He noted that the task before the party now is to work together to secure victory at the polls and provide purposeful leadership for the people of the state.

Dr. Ogundipe also extended an olive branch to other aspirants who participated in the contest, urging them and their supporters to remain committed to the party’s shared vision.

According to him, the election should not divide members but rather strengthen the resolve of the party to build a formidable front ahead of the general election.

“We are one family in ADC. This is the time for unity, reconciliation, and collective commitment to victory. I call on all aspirants and members of our great party to join hands together so we can win the forthcoming election and deliver good governance to the people of Ogun State,” he said.

Supporters of the candidate erupted in celebration shortly after the announcement, chanting solidarity songs and expressing optimism about the party’s chances in the next governorship election.

Political observers at the venue noted that the outcome of the primary may reshape political calculations ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle in Ogun State.

The primary election was conducted amid heightened political activities among major political parties preparing for the next round of elections in the state.

Some party members who spoke with journalists commended the leadership of the ADC for conducting what they described as a transparent and credible exercise.

They expressed hope that the spirit of sportsmanship demonstrated by the aspirants after the announcement of the results would strengthen the party’s chances going into the governorship contest.

Meanwhile, party stakeholders have continued consultations aimed at reconciling aggrieved members and consolidating support for the party’s governorship candidate.

Analysts believe the coming months will witness increased political alignments and coalition-building among parties and aspirants ahead of the 2027 elections.

With his emergence as candidate, attention is now expected to shift to Dr. Ogundipe’s campaign strategy, policy direction, and efforts to rally support across the three senatorial districts of the state.
