Ogun: Abeokuta South LG Boss Calls For Synergy between Executive and Legislative Arm

The Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon Olaniyi Afeez Balogun, has called for a synergy between the Executive and Legislative Arms of Council.

Hon. Balogun made this call at the Legislative Chamber, Local Government Secretariat, Ake, during the proclamation ceremony of the Legislative Council of the Local Government, on Tuesday 26th November, 2024.

The Council Boss in a statement signed by Adenike Olowe, Information/Public Relations Officer of the local government appreciated Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for the landslide victory recorded by the ruling party (APC) during the last Local Government Election, as the result was the evidence of good work and exemplary leadership demonstrated by him.

While congratulating all the newly elected Councillors, Hon. Balogun emphasized that everyone should work towards a common goal of bringing unity and development to the Council Area by discharging their constitutional roles effectively. He assured the lawmakers of his support towards the passing of bye-laws that will develop the Local Government Area

Responding, the newly-elected Leader of the Legislative House, Hon. Jamiu Ogundairo representing Ward 4, appreciated the Honourable Councillors for the confidence reposed in him, and for being elected with 7 Votes against 6 votes of Hon. Kazeem Adenekan Rep Ward 7.

The Leader of the Legislative House, Hon. Ogundairo therefore, emphasized that his administration will be fair to all and ensure that equity prevail in discharging his duties to the good people of the Local Government.

He appealed for maximum support, cooperation and unity from all the Honourable Members, the Executive Arm, as well as the Career Officers, in passing of bye laws, appropriation of bills and other oversight functions that will take the Local Government to its greater heights.

The Leader then conducted election for other Principal Officers and they were all elected unopposed. The Principal Officers are the Deputy Leader, Hon. Sanusi Olayinka Abdulazeez, Rep Ward 10; Majority Leader, Hon. Seyi Oladayo Sodiya, Rep Ward 8 and Chief Whip, Hon. Abdulgafar Olasupo, Rep Ward 5.

Giving the vote of thanks, the Deputy Leader, Hon. Sanusi Oladayo Abdulazeez, appreciated the party leaders and everyone present at the epoch event for the support and for gracing the occasion. He therefore promised that the House will be diligent in service delivery as they make the Council an enviable place.

The programme was witnessed by Leaders and Political Stalwarts in the Local Government.
