In a release signed by Olawale Adekoya, Information, Media and Publication Specialist on behalf of the University, said the Campus radio station got the approval of the broadcasting regulatory body via a letter written by Dr Igomu O. Oja, Secretary to the Commission, dated August 14, 2023, which stated, “I am directed to convey the approval of the National Broadcasting Commission to your request to commence full transmission on your Campus FM Radio Station, 89.3 MHz, Lagos”.

“Nosa Owens-Ibie, a Professor of Communication, Media, and Development, and Vice-Chancellor of Caleb University is convinced that “the evident consolidation of the mass communication programme and its systematic unbundling only showcase Caleb University as the destination of choice for those who are keen on becoming not just national but global players in the academy, industry, and professions. The approval of full transmission for Radio Caleb 89.3 FM, is a continuation of a positive trend. ”

The approval of Radio Caleb 89.3 is based on the report of the successful completion of Test Transmission by the Station in compliance with the provisions of the National Broadcasting Commission Act, Cap. NII, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, and the Nigeria Broadcasting Code.

Dr Solomin Oyeleye, Acting Head, of the Department of Mass Communication, posited that “the approval is an opportunity to consolidate our training platforms envisioned to produce world-class broadcasters. It will also enable us to showcase new talents in programming and production for the benefit of our listeners”

With this monumental achievement, Radio Caleb will no doubt be set to consolidate on successes recorded so far, as well as re-engineer its programming and content to further inform, educate, and entertain its teeming audience.
