The First Female Accountant-General of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, has extended warm felicitations to Muslims across Nigeria and in the diaspora on the occasion of the 2026 Eid-il-Kabir celebration, urging citizens to embrace the core values of sacrifice, love, peace and national unity.

Dr. Madein, in her Sallah message released on Monday, described Eid-il-Kabir as a sacred season that symbolises piety, humility, compassion and selfless service to humanity.

The renowned financial expert and public servant noted that the festival, also known as Eid al-Adha or the Festival of Sacrifice, represents total obedience and submission to the will of Almighty Allah.

According to her, the celebration commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command, as well as God’s mercy in providing a ram in place of the child.

Dr. Madein stated that the spiritual significance of the festival remains a timeless reminder of virtues such as tolerance, generosity, forgiveness, unity and unwavering faith, which she described as necessary ingredients for peaceful coexistence and sustainable national development.

The Founder and Chairperson of the Olowo Oloye Foundation explained that Eid-il-Kabir teaches believers to place obedience to God above worldly interests and personal attachments.

She also highlighted the importance of Qurbani, the sacrificial offering observed during the festival, noting that the sharing of meat among families, neighbours and the less privileged reflects the spirit of charity, empathy and communal support.

According to her, the practice further encourages citizens to extend love and assistance to vulnerable members of society during and beyond the festive season.

Dr. Madein observed that the Eid celebration coincides with the annual Hajj pilgrimage in the holy city of Mecca, one of the Five Pillars of Islam, thereby making the occasion spiritually significant for Muslims worldwide.

She added that the celebration promotes stronger family ties, communal harmony and peaceful coexistence through prayers, acts of kindness, visits and shared meals among loved ones.

“As we celebrate this season of love, piety, sacrifice and compassion, I urge all Nigerians to reflect these virtues in our daily lives by showing love to one another, supporting the less privileged, promoting peace within our communities and contributing positively to the growth and progress of our dear nation,” she stated.

The Ogun State-born technocrat expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future despite prevailing economic and security challenges facing the country.

While acknowledging concerns over insecurity in parts of the nation, Dr. Madein reaffirmed her confidence that Nigeria would overcome its present difficulties through collective commitment, purposeful leadership and faith in God.

She appealed to Nigerians to continue supporting the efforts of governments at all levels towards restoring peace, safety and stability across the country.

According to her, security remains a shared responsibility that requires cooperation and active participation from all citizens.

“Despite the difficulties we face as a nation, I remain optimistic that there is light at the end of the tunnel. With faith in God, purposeful leadership and collective resolve, Nigeria will emerge stronger, safer and more prosperous,” she added.

The former Accountant-General also offered prayers for divine protection over Nigerians at home and abroad, while seeking wisdom for leaders, comfort for the afflicted and peace for troubled communities.

She further encouraged citizens to remain steadfast, united and hopeful in the collective task of building a nation founded on justice, equity, peace and sustainable development.

Dr. Madein equally congratulated the people of Iperu Remo on the forthcoming 2026 Ojude Oba Celebration scheduled for May 29 at the Iperu Mini Stadium Complex, Atenda, Iperu Remo.

She rejoiced with members of the Iperu Regency Council, traditional rulers, the Iperu Akesan Development Association and the 2026 Ojude Oba Planning Committee on the celebration of the community’s rich cultural heritage.

The respected daughter of Remoland also extended warm regards to the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, respected Iperu patriarch Kesington Adebukunola Adebutu, as well as all sons and daughters of Iperu-Akesanland.

She prayed for continued unity, peace and prosperity in Iperu-Akesanland and wished Nigerians a joyful Eid-il-Kabir celebration filled with renewed faith, good health and shared prosperity.
