The Yewa Peoples Development Council (YPDC) has concluded arrangements to honour former Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, following his retirement after years of distinguished service to the nation.

The council, a pan socio-cultural umbrella body for groups and associations in Yewa axis of Ogun State, is organising a grand civic reception in recognition of Egbetokun’s contributions to national security and his status as an illustrious son of Yewa-Land.

In a statement issued by the Chairman of the council, Rahamon Bello, the event was described as a token of appreciation for Egbetokun, who made history as the 22nd indigenous Inspector-General of Police and the first from Ogun State to attain the position.

The statement further disclosed that the Paramount Ruler of Yewa-Land and Olu of Ilaro, Kehinde Olugbenle, will lead members of the Yewa Traditional Council to honour the retired police chief and his wife at the ceremony.

The civic reception is scheduled to hold on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Yewa Frontier Hotel, located in Ilaro, the headquarters of Yewa South Local Government Area.
