The Coalition for United Political Parties (CUPP), the African Democratic Congress (ADC), New Egba Initiative Agenda and key leaders of the Labour Party in Ogun State have formally demanded that the Ogun State Government release detailed documents relating to the reconstruction of the Legislative Quarters, Commissioners’ Quarters and the planned relocation of the NATA (Mechanic) Village in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

In a letter dated November 18, 2025, and addressed separately to Governor Dapo Abiodun, the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, and the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), the political groups—acting through their legal representatives, MJS Partners—invoked the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act, 2011 to request budgetary, administrative and policy documents linked to the projects.

Signed by Prof. Yemi Oke, SAN, and two other counsel, the letter referenced earlier correspondences sent by the groups between November 5 and 11 to various state officials, including the Commissioner for Housing and the SSG, which they said had not yielded the required disclosures.

The groups are seeking Certified True Copies of budget approvals or supplementary budgets issued by the Ogun State House of Assembly; extracts of State Executive Council approvals authorizing demolition or reconstruction activities; memos from the Ministry of Housing; and explicit approvals granted by the Executive Council for the projects under scrutiny.

They also requested comprehensive compensation and relocation plans for occupants of the NATA (Mechanic) Village, which they noted was originally acquired for “overriding public purpose.” Additionally, they demanded disclosure of the government’s intended public-use plan for the land after the relocation.

The letter stated that the requested documents should be provided within seven days of receipt, warning that failure to comply would compel the groups to initiate legal action to obtain restraining orders and enforce accountability.

“We shall be left with no other alternative than to commence legal proceedings against you and other relevant agencies,” the letter read.

Copies of the demand letter were also sent to the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, the Commissioner for Housing, and the Commissioner for Finance.

The Ogun State Government has not yet issued an official response to the demands at press time.
