Dr. Jeffrey Kuraun, a former gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Benue State, North Central Nigeria, has unveiled practical initiatives aimed at tackling the country’s security issues.

These initiatives according to him include innovation labs, wellness centers, civic engagement programs, and peace fellowships.

Delivering a Public Lecture during the 19th University of Mkar Distinguished Public Lecture in Gboko, themed “Navigating an Uncertain Future: Courage, Creativity, and Responsibility in Times of Crisis,”

Dr. Kuraun emphasized the necessity of courage, creativity, and responsibility to combat Nigeria’s current crises effectively.

He stressed the importance of recognizing hardships while empowering students to become proactive visionaries and urged the government to fulfill its obligations in ensuring security, justice, and transparency in disaster response efforts.

In his address, Dr. Kuraun also instilled hope and a sense of accountability, challenging students and the university community to lead Nigeria towards a better future and assume collective responsibility for addressing security challenges.

Dr. Jeffrey Kuraun’s compelling address at the University of Mkar resonated strongly with the audience, sparking calls for collective action in the face of ongoing challenges.

The former SDP Governorship candidate who spoke on the prevailing security situation in Benue State, highlighted the current security challenges in Nigeria, particularly in Benue State.

He emphasized the critical need to address insecurity in the state and expressed concern over the escalating situation.

Reflecting on potential governance strategies, Dr. Kuraun emphasized the need for impactful approaches that prioritize collaboration with all stakeholders, including the Federal Government, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community members.

He underscored the importance of moving beyond rhetoric to concrete security outcomes.

Acknowledging the efforts of past and present administrations in addressing insecurity, Dr. Kuraun called for a holistic approach and emphasized the collective responsibility of all individuals in contributing to lasting security solutions.

He urged unity and cooperation to tackle the security challenges plaguing Benue State and Nigeria as a whole.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Mkar, Professor Zacharys Gundu, commended Dr. Kuraun’s presentation as thought-provoking and revitalizing, highlighting the necessity for all stakeholders, including the government, to contribute to resolving national issues.

Dr. Kuraun’s extensive background in the oil and gas industry, coupled with his philanthropic endeavors through the Jeffrey Kuraun Foundation, underscores his dedication to effecting positive change in Benue State and beyond.
