While describing the development as troubling, the governor decried the involvement of some indigenes of the state in the purported plot.

The Ondo State Police Command had last week arrested six suspects over the planned to bomb some facilities in the state, particularly within Akure metropolis with materials intended for the operation recovered and the their operational base sealed off.

According to Aiyedatiwa, some indigenes of the state colluded with some outsiders to plan the attack which was foiled by security agencies.

With the governor questioning the motive behind the plot and the role of the indigenes in it, he stated that “Some people just woke up, they said they want to bomb us. for what reason? What have we done?

“How can citizens of Ondo State be joining outsiders to want to bomb Ondo State? For what reason? The six individuals, they are in custody now three from our state and three from other states conniving together to carry out that operation.

“We arrested them. Yes. And all the materials that they want to use. They were arrested and they are in our custody right now. They will not succeed.”

Meanwhile, Aiyedatiwa assured that efforts are ongoing to tackle the security situation in the state headlong, emphasising that no nation is 100 percent free of crime, but the degree of response of security agencies matters.

According to him, improved intelligence gathering and collaboration with residents have strengthened the state’s security response.

“We are gathering intelligence every now and then. We are having our people working with us. When you see something, say something. We are foiling a lot of operations that have been planned by these criminals. Some of the things we do, we don’t want to send them out so that you don’t get scared.”
