From Kenechukwu Obiajuru, Yenagoa
The Bayelsa State Vigilante Security Outfit has apprehended two suspected pickpockets, Daniel Michael Agu and Okpoh Kelvin, who confessed to stealing several mobile phones in Yenagoa.
The suspects were arrested following a tip-off from a victim who identified them after they stole his phone inside a tricycle.
The chairman of the Bayelsa State Vigilante Security Outfit, Hon. Doubiye Alagba, disclosed that Daniel Agu is the ring leader of the pickpocket gang and has initiated many others into this criminal act.
Alagba told Salient Times that several phones were recovered from the suspects, including the complainant’s phone. One of the phones was identified by its owner, who confirmed that she was robbed by the suspects at a different location in Yenagoa.
The suspects have been handed over to Operation Doo-Akpo of the Nigerian Police Force for further investigation.
The vigilante service has continued to cracked down on pickpockets, who often use charms and diabolic means to steal valuables from their victims.
