As the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ogun State chapter concludes on who flies the Party ticket at the forthcoming local government elections in Ogun State, market leaders from Abeokuta South Local Government, led by the Iyaloja of Egbaland, Chief Mrs. Oluwakemi Abeke Oloyede, have officially endorsed Honourable Sunday Oluwagbenga Akamo as their preferred candidate for the chairmanship position under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The endorsement, announced on Wednesday, was as a result of Akamo’s impressive track record as a former Ward 04 Councillor and his consistent support for the market community.

Speaking on behalf of the market men and women, Chief Oloyede praised Akamo’s competence and leadership qualities, citing his numerous contributions to the growth and welfare of the local community.

“After a long period of in-depth research, antecedents check, holistic consultations, and due consideration, we market men and women hereby urge the appropriate quarters to elect Akamo of APC as the preferred chairmanship candidate for the November 16, 2024, local government election,” Oloyede said.

She highlighted Akamo’s transformation of his ward during his tenure as a councillor and his continued dedication to uplifting the lives of both men and women in Abeokuta South.

“His leadership brought hope and relief, and his commitment to progress and empowerment remains steadfast. We believe Akamo is the right leader to bring about the much-needed change in our local government,” she added.

The endorsement comes after widespread dissatisfaction with past local government administrations, with market leaders expressing frustration over ineffective leadership.

Chief Oloyede emphasized that Akamo’s vision for education, agriculture, infrastructure, and economic development aligns with Governor Dapo Abiodun’s ISEYA agenda for prosperity.

“We make this endorsement with conviction and enthusiasm, without fear of contradiction. Abeokuta South deserves a leader like Akamo, celebrated for his philanthropy, grassroots engagement, and dedication to the people,” Oloyede declared.

In response to the endorsement, Honourable Akamo expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and pledged to deliver on his promises to drive economic growth and development in the area.

“I am elated by the wise decision of the market men and women. I will deliver on my programs and ensure the prosperity of Abeokuta South,” Akamo said.

Other market leaders present at the endorsement included Chief Mrs. Tejumola Badru (Iyaloja of Lipede Market), Chief Amodemaja (Babaloja of Panseke Market), and representatives from major markets across Abeokuta South, all of whom echoed the sentiments of support for Akamo’s candidacy.

The leaders called on Governor Dapo Abiodun and APC stakeholders to back Akamo, believing his leadership will usher in positive change and development for the entire local government.
