Portable, the controversial Nigerian singer, has shared his opinion on the planned nationwide protest.

Recently, there have been reports that some Nigerians, under various bodies, are planning a nationwide protest between August 1 and 10. The protest, according to the groups, is aimed to show their opposition against the economic hardship particularly the rising cost of living in the country.

In a post on his Instagram story, Portable argued there is no reason to protest because “Nigeria is okay”.

The ‘Zazoo Zeh’ hitmaker claimed people who intend to protest are “jobless” while urging them to “fight for themselves and not for Nigeria”. The singer further disclosed he will not be joining the protest.

“It won’t be well with anyone who tells me to perform during the protest. Don’t you have a producer too, you should collect the mic and join the protest too,” he said.

“Please I need money, I’m hustling. If you take your job seriously, you won’t join the protest. Fight for yourself, don’t fight for Nigeria.

“Nigeria is okay, you are the who is not okay. There is money in some places, you are the who didn’t hustle. You are the one who is not loyal to your helper.

“You are the one who does not make connections. There are people who can help, there are jobs. You are the one who isn’t working. Fight for yourself, don’t fight for Nigeria. Nigeria is okay.”

The planned protest has sparked mixed reactions among Nigerians on social media.

Actor Yul Edochie recently urged people not to protest and to be patient with President Bola Tinubu.

Activist DJ Switch, however, called on Nigerians to unite ahead of the planned protest “if we want actual change”
