Hundreds of residents of Idomila, a community in Ijebu North East Local government area of Ogun State staged a peaceful protest on Saturday Morning calling on the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun to save the community from being cut off from the rest of the World due to the deplorable condition of the roads leading to the community.
The community comprising men, women and children who carried placards begged Prince Dapo Abiodun to come to their aid and fix the road saying that many lives including properties have been lost due to the condition of the road.

According to the protesters, the deplorable road have caused immense hardship to residents, with various casualties recorded, including the death of one of its landlord, simply identified as ‘Baba Deji’.
Speaking with newsmen during the protest on Saturday, Alhaji Kunle Sanni, the Chairman of the Idomila Elders Council said the community which comprises of majorly farmers have had serious connecting the farms produces to the markets.
He added that the about 938 houses located within the community have so far been under siege of erosion, which according to him may further sink the community underground.
“We want the Governor to assist us to repair this road for us . Let them check their records, in Idomila we voted wholeheartedly for the emergence of the governor . We have 938 houses in Idomila community , we have about a million people in this community .
“This road is a major road connecting the Army Barracks at Ilese. Infact, we lost one of our elderly person due to this bad road”, he said.
Also speaking, Mrs. Dahunsi Oderinde, a community member appealed to the state governor, Dapo Abiodun to intervene and repair the road.

She noted that the community had voted overwhelmingly for the governor’s emergence and had high hopes that he would address their long-standing request.
“The road, which connected the community to the Army Barracks of Ilese, has become a death trap, with deep pits and potholes have claimed at least one life in the community while others are being hospitalized.
” We as a community have attempted several palliatives to fill the potholes with bags and broken blocks, spending millions of naira in the process. However, the road remains in a terrible state, hindering access to the market, schools, and other essential amenities”, she added
The community during the protest displayed placards with inscriptions which includes “Bike man, Motorist are avoiding this road, “Gov. Dapo Abiodun, we appeal to you to fix Idomila road, ” We believe in you, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Fix Idomila road for us, it’s a death trap.”
They emphasized that the road’s repair is crucial for their well-being, economic activities, and social lives of the community.
Our reporter however observed that the road construction from the market, through Dipo Dina Stadium was halted at the residence of the Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, thereby making impassable the remain kilometers of the road leading to Idomila and other adjourning communities.
