
The Ogun State President of Beninese Residents In Nigeria, Romain Kakpo has urged all his members and other relevant stakeholders to put an end to every form of child trafficking for labour describing it as a modern day slavery.
Mr Romain Kakpo made the appeal while meeting with the Trustees of the Atewolara Gravel And Sand Association, Ogun State Chapter in Abeokuta.

According to him, the Nigerian government and the international organizations is working round the clock to end all forms of child labour, sexual exploitation, human trafficking, and restore the dignity of every Nigerians, and hence being a special sector that requires a lot of human labour to deliver on his daily activities, they must discourage all forms of child labour and child trafficking.
He said Labour trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery in which individuals perform labour or services through the use of force, fraud, or coercion, while Labour trafficking includes situations of debt bondage, forced labour, and involuntary child labour.

“Together we stand against any action that reduces the dignity and freedom of the human person in the country, we are bound in freedom, peace, and unity. .
Speaking on the need to reorganize the Atewolara Gravel And Sand Association, Mr Romain Kakpo said the Board of Trustee of the Association must be up and doing in their roles at ensuring that the Association is resuscitated and work according to its mandate.
He said it is only by doing this that the Association will be able to weed out bad elements among them.
While assuring of the support of the Beninese Residents In Nigeria, Mr Kakpo said the new Executive of the Atewolara Gravel And Sand Association will be put in place by May 31st this year, calling on all agrieved members to sheath their swords.
Speaking, a member of the Board of Trustee of Atewolara Gravel And Sand Association, Elder Adekunte Victorien assured of the readiness of the Elders of the Association to reposition the Association so as to ensure that there is law and order in the discharge of their daily activities.
He said the Association came into being to checkmate atrocities that might arise in carrying out their daily work and to ensure that their members did not engage the services of any underage children while working on sites.
He said the Association has agreed to elect Comrade Doguida Gerome popularly called Djata as its Chairman and based on the popular agreement, his inauguration will come up on May 31st, 2024.
