The Minister of Works,  Sen. Nweze David Umahi has called on the people of Ebonyi South Senatorial District to work concertedly to deliver the candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, in the Ebonyi South Senatorial bye-relection slated for 3rd February, 2024.

The Minister gave this charge during a rap up meeting of Ebonyi South APC’s stakeholders held at his residence in Abakaliki , in preparation for the Senatorial bye-election.

He expressed satisfaction with the popularity of the candidacy of Prof Okorie Anthony Ani and urged the stakeholders to redouble their efforts to ensure that overwhelming votes are delivered to the candidate of APC. He recounted the numerous opportunities and democracy dividends due to benefit by Ebonyi State and indeed South East from the commendable development masterplan of the Renewed Hope administration of the President of Nigeria, *His Excellency, Sen. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,.

Engr Umahi also commended the Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Bldr. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for the unity of the Party and for hitting the ground running with life-changing programmes and called for unflinching support to the APC administration at all levels.

“The President has given the South East a voice. He has fully integrated South East. It’s time to reciprocate by making our party number one. What is the Senator going to do for us compared to what Mr. President has done for us? So it’s not about the election of the Senator. It’s about returning gratitude to Mr. President, to the Governor and to the party. That is it.”

“And I want to thank all the people from Ebonyi South and, of course, the entire State for their loyalty to the Governor and for working with him. He is the leader of the party in the State. He is the leader of Government. And we must have to honor him.”

In his remarks during the event, the Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC in the State, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, thanked the Hon. Minister of Works for his kind disposition to the affairs of the Party and for making the State proud as Hon. Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He assured the Hon. Minister that the Party would cruise to victory in the 3rd February 2024 bye- election.

The Honourable Minister of Works was elected by the good people of Ebonyi South Senatorial District on 25th February 2023 to represent Ebonyi South in the 10th Senate, where he was further elected as Deputy Leader of the 10th Senate before his appointment by the President of Nigeria as the Hon. Minister of Works. He made a historic outing as the first Senator in the history of modern democracy to be elected a Principal Officer as a first-timer in a record time. He resigned from the Senate in August 2023 upon his wearing-in as Hon. Minister of Works on 21st August, 2023. The search for a replacement of Senator Engr Nweze David Umahi in the Senate was painstaking because of the big shoes he left as a Senator representating the District. The people settled for a University Don, Prof Okorie Anthony Ani, because of his moral and intellectual track records
