A federal capital territory (FCT) high court sitting in Apo, Abuja, has fixed March 21 for the arraignment of Saba Adamu, a lawmaker representing Edu/Moro/Patigi federal constituency, Kwara north-central, in the house of representatives.

The inspector-general of police (IGP) instituted a five-count charge marked CR/97/2022, bordering on the alleged falsification of academic certificate against Adamu.

The lawmaker allegedly forged a bachelor of science in economics certificate from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

He was alleged to have used the forged certificate to secure mobilisation for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme, contrary to section 363 of the penal code Act.

At the court session on Tuesday, the lawmaker was absent.

The police counsel informed the court the lawmaker had written a petition, alleging bias in the investigation carried out on the matter.

He has requested that a fresh investigation should be conducted.

The lawyer then sought an adjournment to enable the police to conduct further investigation before arraignment.

Angela Otaluka, the presiding judge, adjourned the matter to March 21 for feedback on the investigation and possible arraignment.
