The Ibara community area of Abeokuta has declared an 18-year-old boy, Bankole Ipoade Adeleke Adedayo wanted for allegedly involving in a homosexuality act contrary to the same-sex Marriage Prohibition Act 2013 of the Federal Government of Nigeria signed into law in 2014.

The indecent practice which allegedly occurred recently, according to a community leader, Joseph Sosanya has been a recurring activity which has put the whole community into disrepute.

Elder Sosanya revealed that the community is working in collaboration with the Police to arrest the teenager.

He revealed that in the police interim investigation report, it was gathered that on May 5, 2023, at about 13:00 hours the police division received information that one Bankole Ipoade Adeleke Adedayo and Anthony Dada both male, at No. 6 Olubara Crescent, Oke Ilewo, Abeokuta were observed engaging themselves in an unlawful sexual relationship.

According to the report, sequel to the information received, an entry was made and the case was referred for detailed investigation. The complaint which was made through the community led to the investigation and arrest of Dada who made a confessional statement to the police that he is a male sex partner to Adedayo right from Senior Secondary School 2 days, stating further that his partner (Adedayo), being aware that police are investigating the matter, immediately disappeared to an unknown destination.

In a statement issued and made available to journalists and security agencies to apprehend the fleeing Bankole Ipoade Adeleke Adedayo, police therefore said: “We hereby declare Bankole Ipoade Adeleke Adedayo who is about 5.6 inch tall and dark in complexion wanted consequent upon the breach of Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Act 2013 signed into law January 7, 2014”.

He was alleged to have engaged in homosexual practice with one Mr Anthony Dada who confessed to our law enforcement agents after his arrest that he has been having sexual relations with him (Adedayo).

“Dada was arrested on May 10, 2023, with the help of residents of his neighbourhood who gave the police a tip-off of their illicit activities. After much investigation and interrogation, he disclosed that his partner in crime has been his male sex mate for a long time

“Anyone with useful information about the whereabouts of Bankole Ipoade Adeleke Adedayo should please contact the nearest Police Station, law enforcement agency or journalists for proper prosecution.”

All attempts to contact Adedayo to get his side of the matter proved abortive as friends and relatives declined to reveal his whereabouts to journalists who made inquiries.
