The Ogun State governorship tribunal sitting in Abeokuta has dismissed two petitions challenging the victory of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

The tribunal on Monday dismissed the petitions filed by the New Nigeria People’s Party and the Action People’s Party (APP).

The parties had in the petitions marked EPT/Gov/01/2023 and EPT/OG/Gov/04/2023 challenged Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress at the tribunal.

However, the two parties separately asked the election court for the discontinuance of their petitions.

As the tribunal began sitting on Monday, counsel to the parties, Peter Ogah, sought the withdrawal of the petitions.

The respondents’ counsel did not oppose the application, so, the three-man panel headed by Justice Hamidu Kunaza dismissed the petitions for lack of merit
