Bayo Onanuga, director media and publicity Tinubu/Shettima campaign, on Wednesday, tweeted that Tinubu and Shettima have moved to the Defence House.

Tinubu returned to the country on Monday after about a month abroad. He had travelled to Paris to rest after he was declared the winner of the presidential election.

The former governor of Lagos polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat Atiku Abubakar, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who had 6,984,520 votes, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), who secured 6,101,533 votes to come third.

The Defence House, located in the Maitama district of Abuja will serve as the residence until Tinubu and Shetima take the oath of office on May 29 after which they will move to the Aso Rock villa.

Tinubu is expected to receive briefings and hold key meetings at the residence.

The president-elect was accompanied to the house by Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Abdullahi Adamu, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Femi Gbajabiamila, speaker of the house of representatives, among others.

The residence was home to President Muhammadu Buhari after he won the presidential election in 2015.
