A landlord on Adak Uko Street, off Mbukpa Road in the Calabar South area, popularly known as “Hello Daddy”, has committed suicide.

The incident happened on Friday at about 4.30pm.

He was said to have been a rich man with a number of cars and houses in Calabar.

He was also an elder in the Mount Zion Church in Calabar.

The body hung in his palour and a surging crowd of shocked neighbours and passersby were debarred from invading his apartment.

His real name and age were yet to be ascertained as at press time.

He was said to have been sick for a long time.

Young men from the neighborhood brought down the body after performing some traditional sacrifices.

At about 6.30pm, they brought out the rope with which he used to hang himself to the tarred road, cut it into pieces and poured palm wine while chanting some inaudible words.
