Popular social media activist and critic, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has led a protest in Abuja against the worsening security situation in Nigeria, with demonstrators chanting “Tinubu must go” and demanding urgent action from the Federal Government.

VDM, who returned to Nigeria from China on Wednesday afternoon, joined members of his Ratel Movement in a protest march to the Nigerian Air Force Base in Abuja, where they expressed concerns over the growing cases of banditry, kidnappings and killings across the country.

The demonstration, which began on Wednesday night, continued on Thursday morning as protesters carrying placards marched through parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In a viral video circulating on social media, the protesters were seen chanting: “Tinubu must go, APC must go, bandits must go, terrorists must go,” while heading towards the Air Force Base.

The demonstrators called on authorities to take immediate and decisive measures to address the escalating insecurity and recurring attacks by armed groups in several parts of the country.

VDM, a vocal critic of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, has repeatedly condemned the government’s handling of security challenges, particularly the recent wave of kidnappings and killings reported in different states.

While in China, the activist described the current administration as incompetent and urged Nigerians to vote out President Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election.

Prior to his return, VDM had alleged that there were plans by authorities to arrest him upon arrival in Nigeria, a claim that generated reactions among his supporters.

Several members of the Ratel Movement had laid ambush to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, ahead of VDM’s arrival on Wednesday.
