The presidency has distanced itself from an organisation known as “presidential foreign intervention promotion council”.
In a statement on Thursday, Femi Gbajabiamila, chief of staff to President Bola Tinubu, said the organisation does not exist under the current administration.
Gbajabiamila said his office did not appoint an individual named Adeniyi Adeyemi for the organisation.
“It has come to the notice of the Federal Government of Nigeria and specifically the Office of the Chief of Staff to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR that a certain Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, under the auspices of an alleged organisation styled as the “Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council” is portraying himself to the general public, as having been appointed by my office,” the statement reads.
“The unsuspecting public is hereby advised to note that such an office does not exist under this administration and no appointment has been made in that regard.
“Foreign and Diplomatic Missions, Financial and Multilateral Institutions, Development Organisations, Security Agencies and so on are hereby advised to note the contents of this Notice.”
On its Instagram page, the organisation described itself as a government organisation “facilitating global partnerships & foreign investment into Nigeria”.
A quick search on the Instagram page shows that the organisation usually organises “investment” summits using the official logo and symbols of the federal government.
In some posts on the Instagram handle, Adeniyi Adeyemi was identified as the director-general of the organisation.
