Yewa North/Imeko-Afon indigenes commend sacrifice
…Urge Tinubu, Abiodun to reward loyalty with federal role
A coalition under the aegis of the Concerned Indigenes of Yewa North/Imeko-Afon has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun to consider a ministerial appointment for Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka.
The group, in a statement signed by its State Coordinator, Amoko Olajide Elvis, said the call became necessary following Isiaka’s decision to align with the consensus arrangement adopted by stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State.
According to the statement, Isiaka’s action demonstrated political maturity, selflessness, and a strong commitment to party unity and stability.
The group noted that the consensus arrangement had helped to reduce internal tensions within the party and foster cohesion among members ahead of forthcoming political activities.
They described Isiaka’s decision as a patriotic sacrifice that should not go unrecognized by both the state and federal leadership of the party.
The statement highlighted Isiaka’s political trajectory, recalling that he had contested the Ogun State governorship in previous elections under different political platforms.
It added that through these contests, he built a reputation as a visionary leader with a firm grasp of governance and development issues.
The group further stated that Isiaka possesses the experience and intellectual capacity required to serve effectively at the national level.
They argued that his expertise would be better utilized within the federal executive council rather than in the House of Representatives.
“Hon. Isiaka has consistently demonstrated competence, capacity, and a people-oriented approach to leadership,” the statement read.
“We believe that his contributions will be more impactful at the executive level where policies are formulated and implemented.”
The group also emphasized that rewarding loyalty and sacrifice would strengthen internal democracy within the APC and encourage other leaders to prioritize collective interests over personal ambition.
They maintained that recognizing Isiaka with a ministerial role would send a positive signal across the political landscape.
The statement further noted that the Yewa North/Imeko-Afon axis has played a significant role in sustaining political stability in Ogun State.
It argued that the region deserves adequate representation at the federal level as part of efforts to ensure equity and inclusiveness.
The group urged Governor Abiodun to support the nomination and use his influence to advocate for Isiaka’s inclusion in the federal cabinet.
They also appealed directly to President Tinubu to consider the request in the interest of national development.
The indigenes stressed that Nigeria stands to benefit from appointing experienced and capable individuals into strategic positions.
They reiterated their support for the consensus arrangement within the Ogun APC, describing it as a step in the right direction.
The statement concluded with a call on party stakeholders and the general public to support the move, insisting that Isiaka remains a credible and qualified candidate for ministerial appointment.
They expressed optimism that their appeal would receive favorable consideration from the appropriate authorities.
