…Pledges Massive Grassroots Mobilisation for Adeola, APC Candidates

A political support group, Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM), has formally announced its inauguration as part of efforts to mobilise grassroots support for the gubernatorial ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola ahead of the next election cycle in Ogun State.

The group, led by its State Coordinator, Hon. Olusegun Kaka, made this known in a press briefing held on Thursday, describing the movement as a “formidable and result-oriented force” within the state’s political landscape.

According to Kaka, the inauguration, scheduled for Saturday, May 3, 2026, is designed to serve as a strategic convergence of progressive elements across the state, rather than a mere ceremonial event.

He explained that the YPM is a coalition of political groups, youth bodies, and stakeholders committed to ensuring widespread mobilisation in support of Adeola and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“The Yayi Progressives Movement is not a peripheral actor. It is a central, disciplined, and structured force positioned to influence the political direction of Ogun State,” Kaka stated.

He added that the movement is being coordinated under the leadership of its convener, Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, alongside other key figures, with a clear mandate to galvanise support at the grassroots.

Kaka also reaffirmed the group’s alignment with the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that ongoing economic reforms at the national level are aimed at restoring stability and long-term prosperity.

“At the national level, we align firmly with the reform-driven leadership of President Tinubu. His policies, though challenging in the short term, are laying the foundation for sustainable growth,” he said.

At the state level, the group commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for his infrastructural and economic initiatives, which it said have strengthened Ogun State’s position as an industrial hub.

The statement further acknowledged the contributions of elder statesman Chief Olusegun Osoba and other party leaders for sustaining progressive ideals within the state.

Kaka said the movement is committed to ensuring electoral victories for the APC at all levels, including supporting President Tinubu’s re-election and delivering the governorship seat to Adeola.

He described Adeola as a candidate with a proven track record, extensive legislative experience, and strong grassroots appeal.

“Senator Adeola represents a compelling choice for a state seeking accelerated development and inclusive governance,” he added.

As part of activities marking its inauguration, the group disclosed plans to deploy campaign buses across the state to deepen voter engagement and spread its message.

The movement also intends to recognise and empower loyal members, as well as decorate its patrons and matrons during the event.

Kaka emphasised that YPM is structured to reward loyalty, strengthen unity, and sustain governance beyond electoral victories.

“The message is clear: Ogun State is ready, the people are mobilised, and victory is inevitable,” he declared.
Other leaders of the movement include Hon. Olanrewaju Lookman Yakubu (Deputy State Coordinator), Hon. Kehinde Odeneye (Apex Leader), Hon. Anthony Ayodele (Apex Member), Pa Olayiwola Olutunji (Apex Leader), Mr. Olatunji Olojede (Secretary), Mrs. Keji Oduneye (Woman Leader), Sheik Ahmed (State Youth Coordinator), and Comrade Akilo Akeem (Public Relations Officer).
