This landmark project, scheduled for official commissioning by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on Saturday, April 4, 2026, marks a significant milestone in the infrastructural advancement of Ogun State and Nigeria at large.

The Association in a statement signed by Alhaji Ganiu Ahmed, Youth President
Iperu Youth Development Association, commends Governor Abiodun for his visionary leadership, strategic foresight, and steadfast commitment to economic development.

The establishment of the Gateway International Airport represents a bold and transformative step toward positioning Ogun State as a major hub in Nigeria’s aviation sector, while opening up vast opportunities for trade, tourism, and industrial expansion.

As the host community, Iperu Remo occupies a central position in this development. The youth population, in particular, stands as a critical stakeholder in ensuring the sustainability and success of the airport.

In this regard, the Association respectfully urges the Ogun State Government to prioritize the inclusion of qualified Iperu youths in the employment structure of the airport across operational, administrative, technical, and support services.

Promoting youth employment within the host community is both strategic and essential. It will foster a strong sense of ownership, enhance security through local participation, and contribute to a peaceful and stable operational environment.

Furthermore, it will help reduce unemployment, discourage social vices, and drive economic empowerment among young people directly impacted by the project.

We are confident that Iperu youths possess the competence, adaptability, and dedication required to contribute effectively to the aviation sector. With the provision of targeted training and capacity-building programmes, they can meet global operational standards and play a pivotal role in the long-term success of the airport.

Prioritizing host community inclusion also aligns with the principles of fairness, equity, and sustainable development. It strengthens trust between the government and the people while ensuring that the benefits of development are shared inclusively.

The Association also warmly welcomes the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to Iperu Remo for the commissioning ceremony.

We eagerly anticipate this historic occasion and look forward to receiving Mr. President in our community.

Once again, we congratulate Governor Dapo Abiodun and commend all stakeholders whose efforts made this monumental project a reality. The Iperu Youth Development Association remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote growth, unity, and shared prosperity in Ogun State.
