…urges fair political consideration for Ogun West
…says equity will strengthen unity, trust across the state
…hails Abiodun, royal fathers, stakeholders on Golden Jubilee

As Ogun State celebrates its Golden Jubilee, prominent industrialist and community leader, Chief Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun (IBD Dende), has called for a more inclusive future in the state through a well structured rotational leadership, taking into consideration certain age-long invariables conscientiously created to deny the good people of Ogun West their fair share.

In a goodwill message marking the 50th anniversary of Ogun State’s creation, Chief Egungbohun—Chairman of IBD Impex Ltd and the Olu-Omo of Yewaland—congratulated Governor Dapọ Abiodun, MFR, the people of Ogun State, and key stakeholders for their contributions to the state’s growth over the past five decades.

He also paid tribute to traditional institutions across the state, acknowledging the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, HRM Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, MFR, alongside other royal fathers, technocrats, elder statesmen, and sons and daughters of Ogun State at home and in the diaspora.

Describing the Golden Jubilee celebration as both a moment of joy and reflection, Chief Egungbohun said Ogun State’s journey since its creation in 1976 reflects resilience, enterprise, and collective progress.

“Ogun State at 50 is a powerful reminder of how far we have come as a people—through hard work, unity, and shared vision,” he stated.

“This milestone should not only celebrate past achievements but also guide us toward a more inclusive, equitable, and just future.”

Ogun West’s Contributions to Ogun State Development

Chief Egungbohun highlighted the enduring role of the Egbado District, now known as Ogun West, noting that the region has remained central to the state’s cultural heritage, educational advancement, and industrial development.

“From the earliest days of Ogun State, Ogun West has remained an indispensable pillar of our cultural identity, educational excellence, and industrial progress,” he said.

“Our contributions are historic, consistent, and deeply woven into the Ogun story.”

Call for Equity and Rotational Leadership

Using the Ogun@50 milestone, the business leader urged political leaders and decision-makers to embrace the anniversary as an opportunity to deepen equity, inclusion, and fairness, particularly regarding Ogun State’s rotational leadership arrangement.

According to him, fair political consideration for Ogun West would not only recognize the region’s contributions but also strengthen unity and trust across the state.

“Ogun at 50 presents a unique opportunity to recommit to justice, fairness, and inclusive governance,” he stated.

“A future built on equity will ensure that every zone feels a true sense of belonging in the Ogun project.”

Ogun State at 50: Growth, Unity and Shared Prosperity

Ogun State is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s leading industrial and educational hubs, driven by a fast-growing economy and rich cultural heritage. Chief Egungbohun acknowledged that these achievements were made possible through the collective efforts of all regions and communities.

As Golden Jubilee celebrations continue across the state, his message adds momentum to the ongoing conversation on unity, balanced development, and inclusive governance.

For Chief Egungbohun and many stakeholders, the next chapter of Ogun State must be defined not only by economic progress, but also by fairness, representation, and shared prosperity, including for Ogun West.
