The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been ranked 26th in the world and third in Africa in the latest FIFA men’s rankings released on Monday.

The Super Eagles moved up 12 places from their previous rank of 38th position.

The latest spot on the ranking is the team’s highest globally since May 2010, when the Eagles were ranked 21st.

Nigeria’s massive leap in the rating was due to the Eagles’ impressive campaign at the just-concluded 2025 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON).

Nigeria did not lose a match in regular time in the AFCON where the Super Eagles won bronze.

The team lost on penalties to Morocco in the semi-final.

Similarly, Morocco broke into the top ten of the best nations in the world despite their AFCON final loss to Senegal.

The Atlas Lions are now ranked eighth, while Senegal, the 2025 AFCON winners, remain second but moved up seven places to 12th best nation globally.

Equatorial Guinea suffered the biggest drop by ten places to 107th place, while Gabon lost the most total points.

Spain remains the highest ranked nation globally, closely followed by Argentina and France, with England and Brazil completing the top-five, as the best seven ranked nations globally did not change.

The next FIFA ranking will be released April 1, after the international break between March 23–31.
