Nigeria’s Super Eagles successfully defended their Unity Cup crown on Saturday, defeating Jamaica 3-0 in a commanding final at the Valley Stadium in London.

A brilliant brace from Alhassan Yusuf and a clinical finish by Terem Moffi secured victory for the Super Eagles, who lifted the trophy for the fourth time in the history of the invitational tournament.

Despite the fixture coinciding with the UEFA Champions League final, a sizeable crowd turned out to witness the encounter as Nigeria produced a dominant display against the Reggae Boyz.

The victory further cemented Nigeria’s status as the most successful team in the competition, having previously won the tournament in 2002, 2004, and again in 2025 when the Unity Cup was revived after a long hiatus. On that occasion, the Super Eagles edged Jamaica on penalties in the final.

Head coach Eric Chelle retained faith in the squad that defeated Zimbabwe 2-0 in the semi-final, making just one change to his starting line-up.

Nigeria made a dream start, taking the lead in the third minute. Alhassan Yusuf reacted quickest at the back post to slot home after the Jamaican goalkeeper failed to deal effectively with a Nigerian attack.

The Super Eagles doubled their advantage shortly after the restart. Femi Azeez, who scored twice in the semi-final, dazzled down the flank before delivering an inviting cross that Terem Moffi powered into the net with a well-placed header.

Yusuf completed his brace in spectacular fashion to put the result beyond doubt. The midfielder finished off a swift counterattack initiated by Philip Otele, curling a sublime effort from the edge of the penalty area into the bottom corner.

The emphatic victory capped an impressive campaign for Chelle’s experimental squad and underlined the depth of talent available to the national team ahead of future international assignments.
