The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NiDCOM, has rescued Adeola, the 41-year-old daughter of veteran Yoruba actress Jumoke George, four years after she was trafficked and trapped in Mali.

The announcement was made on Monday by NiDCOM Chairman, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter).

“Breaking! Adeola, daughter of popular actress Jumoke George, who cried out that she had not heard from her daughter in four years, is back home from Mali, where she was trafficked to. Just received her, with Biola Adebayo who broke the story, and Niyi Johnson. Details later!” Dabiri-Erewa wrote.

The news comes shortly after a heartbreaking video surfaced online, showing Jumoke George in tears as she recounted years of personal tragedy showing her homelessness, poor health, crushing debt and the mysterious disappearance of her child.

The video, shared by actress Abiola Ayomide Adebayo, showed the once-celebrated actress pleading for prayers and public support.

Amid tears, she said, “Dear Nigerians, please pray for me. I have never ruined anyone’s life. I am tired, I can no longer bear it. I don’t have a home, I don’t have anything, and a child of mine is missing.”

Jumoke revealed that her first child, Adeola, who turned 41 in May, had been missing for over four years. She also shared her ongoing battle with serious health issues.

“I have been sick since January 2nd. I’ve done several tests and now need brain and heart scans. It costs N400,000, and I don’t know where to get the money,” she lamented.

She further disclosed that she has been living in a church for over five years, relying entirely on the church for shelter and food.

“It is true. I don’t have a house. I’ve been living in the church for five to six years. Most times, I’m fed by the church,” she added.

Jumoke didn’t shy away from speaking on her financial struggles either. She invited the public to verify her claims of indebtedness.

“I don’t sleep. I’m always in pain. I’m in debt. You can go through my phone and see the transactions. You’ll see I have a lot of debts,” she said
