The suspect was reportedly rescued from an angry mob that had attempted to lynch him before troops intervened. Following his arrest, the man and exhibits recovered from him were handed over to the Nigeria Police at Noforija Division for further investigation and possible prosecution.

In a separate operation, troops patrolling Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area also arrested three suspected drug peddlers. The suspects were found in possession of two packs of substances believed to be Indian hemp, cleverly concealed under 60 kilograms of cargo in a white J5 vehicle.

The drug suspects and the exhibits were immediately transferred to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ilaro Area Command, for further investigation and prosecution.

“The Division will continue to deploy every legitimate means to protect law-abiding citizens from criminal elements within its Area of Operation,” the statement read.

The Nigerian Army urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to aid the ongoing fight against crime and insecurity in the region
