Oyo State Governor, Engineer Oluseyi Makinde, on Saturday, April 12, commissioned the KAP Film Village and Resort, a brainchild of filmmaker Kunle Afolayan, located in Igbojaye, Itesiwaju Local Government Area.

The Governor used the occasion to announce immediate plans for rehabilitating access roads and providing stable electricity to the facility.

The event attracted dignitaries from across the country, including the Minister of Art, Culture and Creative Economy, Barrister Hannatu Musawa, as well as Nollywood legends Tade Ogidan and Tunde Kelani.

Other notable guests included the Osun State Commissioner for Federal Affairs, Mrs. Nike Adeleke; Hon. Shina Oyedeji (O’Shine); PDP Lagos governorship candidate Dr. Abdul-Azeez Jide Adeniran (Jandor); Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, DG, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission; Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole (Wolekanle); Baba Eko; Olumiye Iyanda; Prince Layinka Oyedeji; Soji Oyawoye; Prince Kola Adewusi; and the Oluigbo of Igbojaye.

The Vice Chancellor of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Prof. Adesola Ajayi, and the Director-General of the Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board, Shola Shobowale, were also in attendance.

Commending Kunle Afolayan for his vision, Governor Makinde said the film village represents a big win for tourism, culture, and economic development in Oyo State.

“This camp village stands as a powerful symbol of what can happen when creativity meets investment,” he said. “It has placed Oyo State on the global tourism map.”

Makinde reiterated his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, sustainable growth and creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive. He pledged to fix the electricity challenge facing the village, stating that a solar mini-grid would be installed and a 23-kilometre direct power line from Okaka would be completed within six months.

“I will personally ensure this project has reliable electricity before Christmas. This is a valuable investment, and we will support it accordingly,” he assured.

The Governor also announced rehabilitation of the road leading to the film village and directed the Chairman of Itesiwaju Local Government to submit a formal request for the project. on Monday

Makinde further revealed that the International Airport under construction in Oyo State would be ready between October and November 2025.

He also hinted at ongoing plans to establish airstrips in Otu and Igbeti for security surveillance purposes.

“Tourism remains a cornerstone of our economic diversification strategy,” he concluded, calling on other investors to bring value to the state
