Two highly respected elder statesmen, Senator Femi Okurounmu and Prof. Anthony Asiwaju are to weigh-in on the unending crisis in Rivers State and ongoing desecration of the Judiciary with strong potentiality capable of causing mayhem of untold proportion in the Niger Delta enclave.

The platform for this discourse is the popular monthly online interview programme, BOILING POINT ARENA billed to hold on Sunday November 10, 2024.

The 25th in the series, the once-in-a-month current affairs programme holds will start at 8pm for a two-hour duration on Sunday via Zoom and to be transmitted live on two radio stations, Sweet 107.1FM, Abeokuta and WASH 94.9FM, Lagos.

Boiling Point Arena, with an incredibly large online followership, is the brainchild of the Convener, Dr Ayo Arowojolu, a media professional with 34 years multi-varied work career spanning the media, banking and education sectors.

On the podium this time around are vocal Senator and Afenifere chieftain, Dr Femi Okurounmu and eminent historian, Prof Anthony Asiwaju who are expected to brainstorm on the issue at stake and in particular offer perspectives on how the ongoing 4th Republic democracy can be salvaged.

Dr Okurounmu was the Chairman, Presidential Advisory Council, a Committee which set the tone for the Constitutional Conference during the regime of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

For his part, Prof Asiwaju is an Emeritus Professor of History and African Borderland Studies, who retired long ago from the University of Lagos, Akoka.

The duo of Senator Okurounmu and Prof Asiwaju are to offer perspectives, detailing the gradual decline of governance to the extent of godfatherism, money politics, governance by proxy, legislative rascality, abusive use of State Security apparatuses and the desecration of the various layers of court systems in Nigeria.

All of these are to be dissected under the topic: “The Unending Rivers Crises: How Powerful Individuals are Desecrating the Judiciary and Other Institutions of State Across the Country”

A foremost traditional ruler, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Prof. Saka Matemilola, is expected to deliver a keynote address to herald the discourse, in his capacity as Chairman, Boiling Point Council of Royals and Elders.

According to a statement by the Chairman, Organizing Committee for the programme, Dr Eddy Ademosu, one of Nigeria’s notable Public Relations Icon, the interview discourse will fashion the way forward for proper democracy in Nigeria.

Dr Ademosu commended the Management of Sweet FM, chaired by its Promoter, Senator Olugbenga Obadara and WASH 94.9FM for identifying with worthy causes through partnering with the Boiling Point platform to widen the audience reach of the programme through its terrestrial and online channels

BOILING POINT, a news and general interest Group, comprises an array of eminent personalities including over 300 Professors, technocrats, industry leaders, High Court Justices, traditional rulers, security top shots, media professionals and several others.
