Ogun State governor has declared that his administration in the second term would focus on how to build on the foundation it had laid in the past four years and continue with the policy of inclusiveness.

Abiodun, who noted that though his administration might have not met the aspirations and expectations of everyone, assured that his government would work harder for the betterment of Ogun people’s lives in the next four years.

The governor stated this on Sunday at the Special Church Service for his inauguration and that of his deputy, Mrs. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, for a second term, held at the Cathedral Church of St. Peter, Ake, Abeokuta.

Said Abiodun: “We have fulfilled our promises to the people in line with our promises. Our legacies are all over the state. We have been just, fair, and equitable to all. We have not developed any part of this state to the detriment of the others.

“I want to thank our people for believing in us and entrusting us with their mandates. As you have renewed the mandates, I promise that I will not betray the trust. We will continue to build on the foundation we built. We will be more inclusive and we will keep our promises”.

He expressed the undeterred commitment of his administration to serve with more vigor in the second term, commending the people for supporting his party in the presidential election despite the same religion ticket brouhaha.

While thanking the church for living in peace with adherence to other religions, the state helmsman appreciated the body of Christ for teaching their children and wards moral values, which he noted had helped in reducing social vices in the society.

The governor, however, emphasized that he would continue to serve the people with the fear of God, calling for continued prayers and more support to make his second term worthwhile.

Earlier in his sermon, the Diocesan Bishop of Egba Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Adekunle, called on the Nigerian leaders to be just and fair to all manner of people, as they are God’s representatives on earth

Bishop Adekunle equally called on them to depend on the Holy Spirit to lead the people right at all times.

In the sermon entitled, “Leadership t
Through the Guidance of the Holy Spirit”, and the text is taken from Romans 13 vs 1-14, the Bishop noted that the position of authority is full of intrigues and troubles, hence, the need for the leaders to lean on the Holy Spirit to manage conflict and crisis adequately, enjoining them not to oppress the people, but be just and fair to all.

He specifically urged Governor Abiodun to depend on the Holy Spirit to guide him in selecting the right people that would work with him in the second term.

Adekunle further called on the people to honor, respect, and pray for their leaders at all times as entrenched in the Bible, saying “Leaders are appointed by God to run the affairs of men on earth and therefore needed the cooperation of all”.

The cleric who commended the governor for massive infrastructural development and ensuring that other sectors are not left out, urged him to redouble his efforts in his second term.

“My governor, you have done very well, especially on road development. In the area of education, we can see the yellow roofs all over the state, you have not disappointed in any way.

“We all agreed that you have performed creditably well in the last four years and we are not surprised. But, Your Excellency, there is room for improvement. Though we see the new desks you have provided in the schools, some of these schools do not have enough teachers and we want you to do something about it.

“Another area we want the governor to look into is the return of mission schools to the owners be it Christian or Muslim schools. Asiwaju did it in Lagos and nothing happened and I am sure nothing will happen here”, the Bishop submitted.
