Founder of the Pastor Reuben Initiative for Good Leadership and Accountability, PRIFGLA, and Governing Council Member of the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Chief Pastor Reuben Wilson, has called on Nigerians to uphold democratic values and deepen participation in governance as the nation marks another Democracy Day.
In a statement issued to commemorate June 12, Pastor Reuben said the anniversary serves as a symbolic reminder of the struggles, resilience, courage, and determination that led to the entrenchment of democracy, justice, and national development.
He noted that the celebration should reinforce commitment to protecting democratic institutions and preserving the principles of accountability and popular participation.
According to him, democracy remains the best form of government because it guarantees citizens’ right to participate in governance that promotes accountability, transparency, and the rule of law.
The Governing Council Member urged Nigerians not to lose faith in the democratic process despite current economic challenges and social difficulties.
Pastor Reuben also called on citizens to continue supporting and praying for the administration of President Bola Tinubu in its determination to foster development. He said the reforms so far enunciated by the government are aimed at achieving economic stability, growth, and good governance.
“Though some of the ongoing economic policies may require patience and sacrifice, the signs of long-term transformation are evident,” he said.
He further urged Nigerians to remain law-abiding and to support government initiatives designed to foster growth, peace, and sustainable development across the state and the nation at large.
