Suspected bandits on Monday evening abducted three persons from a residential estate in the Ijebu-Ode area of Ogun State after reportedly invading the community with sophisticated weapons.
The victims, identified as two women and a man believed to be members of the same family, were kidnapped during the attack on Ipojo Golden Estate located in the Oke-Eri area of the town.
According to eyewitness accounts, about 15 armed men stormed the estate around 7 p.m., forcefully entered a residence, ransacked the building and whisked away the victims to an unknown destination.
The head of the affected family, Yesiru Badewa, was said to be away on official duty when the incident occurred.
Reacting to the development, Badewa described the incident as devastating, expressing concern over the health condition of one of the abducted victims who was reportedly ill before the attack.
“This has devastated us. One of those taken is sick, and we are worried her condition may deteriorate in captivity. We appeal to the authorities and kind-hearted Nigerians to come to our aid,” he said.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said security operatives had intensified tactical and intelligence operations aimed at rescuing the victims and arresting the perpetrators.
Babaseyi assured residents that the command remained committed to combating kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
“The Ogun State Police Command is aware of the incident at Ipojo Golden Estate, Oke-Eri, Ijebu Ode, and has intensified tactical and intelligence operations to rescue the victims and apprehend the perpetrators,” he stated.
He further appealed to residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could aid ongoing investigations.
