Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State said the State security council has agreed to relax the curfew imposed on the people of Amasiri Community
Nwifuru stated this while briefing journalists on the outcome of the state security council meeting held in office conference Room, centenary city, new Government House Abakaliki.
He said the curfew was reviewed and council decided to relax it from 7:am to 6:pm in the evening adding that council took such decision to enable her employ other stringent measures on the people of the Community hence they refused to bring the behead heads to government.
He revealed that council also agreed to charge those in connection with the killings to court.
When asked how many persons has been arrested in the community Nwifuru said a lot of people have been arrested and they are in police custody.
He informed that the two former Traditional rulers and the coordinator were also brought to the meeting, though, they are also helping the security agencies to uncover more secrets.
“The ongoing investigation into the January 29 killings at Okporojo in Oso-Edda and the investigative mileages recorded so far, the curfew imposed on Amasiri Community has been reviewed.
Nwifuru said the Council considered intelligence reports and adopted measures to review the curfew imposed on the Amasiri community.
“To further excavate facts surrounding the killings , the Council agreed to adopted more stringent measures for peace to return to Amasiri and Okporojo Community, soonest.
“Council hinted that those arrested in connection with the crises will be charged to court.
According to the Governor, the Council agreed that all schools in Amasiri should remain closed pending the determination and conclusion of investigations to forestall further occurrence.
