The Office of the President of the Senate has dismissed claims circulating on social media linking Senator Godswill Akpabio to an alleged appointment within a political support group known as Team Akpabio for Tinubu (TAT).

In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President of the Senate, the office described claims attributed to one Hon. Aondoaver Nyakuma as false and misleading, stressing that the Senate President has no connection whatsoever with the group or its internal affairs.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the President of the Senate has no affiliation with, and no operational knowledge of the internal affairs, appointments, or activities of any political support group, including those operating under the name Team Akpabio for Tinubu,” the statement said.

The office explained that such groups are voluntary associations formed independently by their members and do not require the approval or endorsement of Senator Akpabio.

“Senator Akpabio does not know Hon. Aondoaver Nyakuma and has never appointed him, or any other person, to any position within any political support group,” the statement clarified.

Addressing suggestions of political tension in Benue State, the office noted that Senator Akpabio maintains a cordial and respectful institutional relationship with the Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Iormem Alia, and has no personal or political dispute with him.

The statement also emphasised that Senator Akpabio does not represent Benue State in the National Assembly and therefore has no obligation to intervene in intra-state political matters.
“His role as President of the Senate is national, constitutional, and institutional,” the office said.

The Office of the President of the Senate urged the public and the media to disregard narratives seeking to associate Senator Akpabio with claims, appointments, or grievances arising from private political groups
