The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Daisi Elemide, has extended warm Christmas greetings to Christians across the state and the nation, urging citizens to embrace the values of peace, unity, and selfless love that define the season.

In his Christmas message signed by his Media Aide , Kunle Idowu and released on Wednesday, Elemide congratulated Christians for witnessing yet another celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, describing the season as “a divine reminder of God’s love and a call to strengthen our commitment to collective progress.”

He noted that Christmas is not only a moment of celebration but also an opportunity for sober reflection on how to contribute positively to society.

According to the Speaker, the essence of the season is rooted in compassion, forgiveness, and service to humanity.

“Christmas is a clarion call to show love beyond words and to build bridges of peace where division exists. As we celebrate, let us remember the less privileged and extend support to those in need,” Elemide stated.

The Speaker reaffirmed the commitment of the Ogun State House of Assembly to legislation that enhances the welfare of citizens and promotes development across communities in the state.

He added that the legislative arm would continue to prioritize people-centered policies.

Elemide also appreciated Governor Dapo Abiodun for what he described as steady progress in infrastructure, education, and social development, noting that the Assembly will continue to work harmoniously with the executive to sustain good governance.

He urged residents of Ogun State to remain law-abiding during the festive period and to avoid actions capable of endangering the peace and security of the state. The Speaker emphasized the importance of cooperation with security agencies.

“As families and communities gather to celebrate, I encourage everyone to act responsibly and support the security architecture of the state. Public safety is a shared responsibility,” he cautioned.

While praying for peaceful celebrations across the country, Elemide encouraged Nigerians to keep faith alive as they enter a new year, stressing that the coming season requires collective resilience and optimism.

He expressed confidence that the challenges facing the nation are surmountable with unity, mutual respect, and sustained commitment to democratic values. He assured that the Assembly would remain responsive to the yearnings of the people.

The Speaker called on religious leaders to continue preaching messages of hope, peace, and national cohesion, noting that the influence of religious institutions remains crucial to moral development in society.

Elemide also extended greetings to political leaders, traditional rulers, community organisations, and youth groups, commending their roles in promoting stability across the state.

He encouraged young people to focus on education, skill development, and responsible citizenship, describing them as central to the future of Ogun State and Nigeria.

Rt. Hon. Elemide concluded by wishing all Christians a joyous Christmas celebration filled with blessings and renewed hope. He prayed for God’s guidance for families, communities, and the entire state as a new year approaches.

“May this Christmas bring light into our homes, progress to our state, and unity to our nation. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year,” the Speaker added.
